Freudenberg expands catheter production

Company invests € 9 million in Irish site

Freudenberg, the global technology group, continues to expand in medical technology. The Business ӽ has announced the extension of its catheter manufacturing facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Republic of Ireland. VistaMed is a leading supplier of catheter solutions and assembly services, complex extrusion and minimally-invasive devices. In total, some € 9 million will be invested at the site.

The Freudenberg ӽ is investing worldwide in the development of its footprint in the medical technology industry, to strengthen its innovation power and ensure the company’s long-term success in the market. The existing facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Republic of Ireland, will be extended by 45,000 square feet. This includes four new ISO Class 7 cleanrooms for contract manufacturing of minimally-invasive devices. “This latest expansion is evidence of the strong demand for VistaMed products and services,” said Patrick Mulholland, Managing Director of VistaMed.

It was only in October 2016 that a new state-of-the-art research and development center for innovative catheter technology was constructed in Carrick-on-Shannon for € 10 million, creating 200 new jobs. The center also includes a cleanroom for prototyping and first-in-man builds.
